C. frutescens. Hot pepper. Tabasco type. Small elongate fruit are pointed and semi-wrinkled and mature from pale yellow to orange to red. Erect fruit measure 1.5-1.85 inches long, up top 0.7 inches wide, and weigh less than an ounce. Given the right conditions plants get very large up to 6 feet tall. Flowers are a yellow-green color. This is a long season variety and does not produce well in northern climates unless grown in a hoop or greenhouse. This is the true tabasco pepper responsible for the famous tabasco sauce.
