Minowase Daikon

Daikon type, winter radish. Very long, white, cylindrical roots with tapered ends. Roots grow high above the ground but also extend deep into the soil; can be difficult to harvest without breaking off roots in the soil. Most roots have very light green tops. Fall grown roots reached 8-12" long; 1.4-2" wide; and weigh 0.5-0.8lbs at Heritage Farm in 2015. Excellent, crisp, juicy texture. Refreshing, mild, and slightly sweet. Brix score: 5.5. Plants grow 8-11" tall and 1.5' wide. Prostrate, highly lobed leaves, are highly pubescent. Acquired by SSE from Kitazawa Seed Co. SSE Accession # 118627
