German Red (Parat)

Summer radish. Small round roots are smooth skinned and have a reddish-pink color and white flesh. Roots measure 1-1.25 inches in diameter and weigh up to 0.8 ounces. Roots are half-buried. Plants have very small tops and measure up to 4.5 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter. Leaves are prostrate, elliptic in shape, and have red midveins. BRIX reading 4.0. Very quick to maturity in about 30 days when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. A mild radish with a bit of spice and nice crisp texture. Donated to SSE by Blane Bourgeois (AR BO B). A variety by this name has been exchanged in the SSE Yearbook Exchange for at least 20 years. SSE Accession # 118854
