Dark orange, cylindrical to slightly tapered roots with a blunt end. Somewhat variable in size and shape. Smooth texture. Rounded stem end with conspicuous green shoulders. Some roots are raised up to 0.5" above the soil line. Rarely forked. Homogenous, dark orange core. Mature roots reach 3.3-6.3" long by 0.8-1.3" wide and weigh 0.8-2.9 oz.. Green foliage. Raw carrots are moderately sweet with a slightly floral flavor. Excellent, crisp texture. Cooked carrots are moderately sweet with a strong carroty flavor. The flavor becomes milder after a hard freeze. Given to SSE by Robert Wood (KS WO R) who listed it in the 1990 SSE Yearbook Exchange, saying the variety is a popular French strain used for baby carrots. SSE Accession # 106857
