VEGETABLES / TOMATO

Extremely rare, only a handful of people in the world hold this seed. Very limited supply, 5 seeds in a pack. This tomato was grown by Gene Flowers of the Tellico Mountains of Tennessee since the 1960’s. Gene passed way in 2021 and upon his passing, a good friend by the name of Jennifer joined the seed swaps to offer up a few memorial packs of these seeds to honor him. Only a few people requested the seed, and then she removed herself from the swaps. I was one of the lucky few to spot her offer and request in time. The pack only held 5 seeds, and down to the last two, one finally sprouted this year for me! The plant itself is resilient, stubborn in the best way. After a rocky start with a blight type ailment, trimmed down to almost no green, the plant shot a sucker and then over time seemingly healed its main stem and flourished into a thin but healthy plant stretching over 5 ft tall! The grape/Roma type tomatoes grow in several clusters of 3-6, ripening one bunch at a time … but also in no hurry to ripen. The flesh is very thick, sweet with a great appalachian twang and few seeds (only 10-15 per tomato). A perfect snacking type tomato, or one for sun drying.
