Beautiful green and dark green striped fruit have many yellow splashes and spots. These 'moon and stars' vary in size and shape. General fruit shape varies from round to elongate. Fruit measure 0.8-1.3' long, 1.0-1.2' wide, and weigh 20-40 lbs. Pink flesh. Above average productivity. Brix 9.8. Highly sprawling plants have yellow spots on leaves. Don Poole of North Carolina began growing this variety in 1967 after receiving seeds from his brother-in-law Ervin Toney. Ervin got the seeds in 1966 from a man named Clarence Grigg of King’s Mountain, NC, whom Ervin’s wife (Don’s sister) worked with. Clarence told Don’s sister that his family had kept these seeds pure, but Don is unsure how long it had been in the Grigg’s family. Donated to SSE in 2015 by Don Poole. SSE Accession # 132991
