DeHart's Butter Bean

Pole lima. Fully expanded pods are straight and measure 2.5-3" long and 0.75-1.25" wide. Dry pods shattering type. Medium sized white seeds have slight ridging and are cordate to cuboid in shape. Leaflet ovate-lanceolate in shape. High pod set and mid-season maturing when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Barbara Lund (OH LU B) who acquired this variety from Gene & Debbie Phillips of Winchester, Virginia. At that time it had been grown by the Phillips family for 30 years and had been in the DeHart family since 1860s. SSE Accession # 112670
