Jaune de Doubs

Long and tapered, yellow roots. Typically straight, occasionally forked roots. Outer color intensity ranges from light to moderate. Shoulder are rounded with slight green coloration. Smooth texture. Yellow core. Roots measure 4.5-8.2" long by 0.8-1.2" wide and weigh 1-3 oz. Vigorous and dense, dark green foliage. Raw carrots are slightly pithy with a subtle flavor. Drier texture. Slightly bitter. Cooked carrots have a strong carrot flavor with a dense texture. Best eaten cooked. Donated to SSE by Anpetu Oihankesni (CO OI A) who indicated this variety is a French heirloom.
