Black Seeded Simpson

Curly leaf. Quick growing variety becomes large very soon after sowing. Yellow-green leaves obovate in shape with high leaf blistering, and a highly toothed and wavy margin. Largest leaves measure 7-10" long and 7-9.8" wide. Plants measure 6.3-11" tall and 12.5-17" in diameter. Black seeded. Average time to bolting when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Leaves are very tender and delicate. Matches description of historic American variety of the same name. SSE Accession # 111585
