Round to oblong, light green fruit with darker green mottling. Slight variation in fruit shape. Pink flesh. Standard flavor and texture. Brix score: 9.9. High productivity when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. White seeds. Fruit reach 7-12" long; 7-11" wide; and weigh 6-21lbs. Medium rind (0.4-0.5" wide). Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Marvin Kucera of Chelsea, IA. In the early 1900s, Chelsea, IA was famous for melons grown on the sandy hills north of town. Farmers would fill their horse-drawn "triple box" wagons in the field, haul them to town, and sell the melons right from the wagons. SSE Accession # 127952
