HERBS-SPICES / BASIL
These are gorgeous plants that have an erect and bushy growth habit. It has beautiful purple flowers and stems. The plants are very uniform. They are on the shorter side which means the stems don't lodge. The plants have glossy, green foliage and greep elliptic leaves with short petioles. David Cavagnaro (IA CA D), SSE's first farm manager, has grown this variety of basil since shortly after he moved to Iowa from California in the late 1980s. He originally acquired the seeds from a commercial source and shared it with SSE at about that same time. SSE Accession # 111020
