Large pink beefsteak. Pink flesh, very few seeds. Low tendency to split or crack. Mild flavor, lower acidity, juicy. Fruit weigh 0.5-1.0lb and measure 3-4" wide. Tall, leafy, indeterminate plants. Regular leaves. Plants measure 5-5.5' tall. Fruit in clusters of 1-3. Brix 4.5. Mid season maturity. SSE acquired this variety in 2015 when Gary Staley’s seed collection was sent to Heritage Farm after he passed. Gary got his seeds from Faxon Stinnett (OK ST F) in 1982 and listed the variety in the SSE SSE Yearbook Exchange from 1984-2015. Faxon got his seeds in 1977 from Hastings' Seeds of Atlanta, GA. According to research done by SSE staff, this variety was introduced to the US seed trade in 1910 by the T.W. Wood and Sons seed company, located in Richmond, VA. It was originally developed by a home gardener named Susan H. Brimmer who displayed it at the 1907 Jamestown Exposition in Virginia where it won a Grand Prize for size and weight.
