VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Pole bean for a long season. 140+ days to ripe. Eat the pods with semi-ripe seeds. I was told they are dried whole then soaked, in Appalachia. 12' vine (climbs into nearby trees) starts late but hugely productive of 3-3.5"x3/8"x1/4" rounded curved pods with up to 6-8 squarish seeds, up to 3/8"x5/16"x1/4" purplish grey with dark purple spray paint along edges. Pink/purple flowers. One quart dry seeds from 4' row. AKA Mayflower, Amish Knuddel, Gnuttle or Nuttle. Outstanding in long well-watered summer of 2014. Poor crop in dry 2016, 2017 and 2018. 25 seeds from hugely productive hot dry 2021. Germination 80% in 4 years then drops off.
