Pole, snap bean. Pods green, straight, pubescent, and round elliptic in cross section. Good texture and flavor; sweet; drier texture; slightly tannic; very firm. Fully expanded pods 5-6" long; 0.4-0.5" wide. Mature pods yellow with a faint red blush along ventral suture. Shelling and dry beans have a grainy texture and strong green bean-like flavor. Dry pods contracted around seeds and slight shattering tendency. Seeds white and oval. Non-pigmented plants. White flowers. Average productivity and late maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Roger Wade (OH WA R) Bellaire, Ohio. This variety was passed down from Wade's great-grandfather, Friend Cecil, who lived in West Virginia.
