Single Image
VEGETABLES / WATERMELON-CITRON
This is an interesting watermelon that is supposedly a good keeping melon. Round to oblong fruit is light green with green stripes. Fruit is 6-9 inches in diameter and weigh up to 14 pounds. Pink flesh. Small black seeds. Strong vining variety produced many fruit, but didn't get to maturity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm due to it's long season nature. Fruit is sweet and tangy, but gummy and stringy in texture. BRIX reading 10.4 Donated to SSE by Kenneth Burpee (MI BU K) introduced this variety into the 1983 SSE Yearbook Exchange. He indicated that it had been passed down within the Conklin family for generations. SSE Accession # 127739
