Bush bean. Best used as a dry bean. Plants about 18 inches tall. Pink flowers. Immature pods are medium green in color and are 3.5-4 inches long. Mature pods are lighter green than the snap bean stage. Dry seeds are mostly maroon with some white near one end and opposite side of the eye. Seeds kidney shaped and about 3/4 inch long. Variety was productive and matured its entire crop in about 100 days. Variety was grown by and evaluated by Seed Savers member Russell Crow. Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. Withee received the variety from Ernest Dana (NH DA E) of Etna, NH. SSE Accession # 100978
