Pole/dry/snap. Multipurpose bean. Sweet and juicy snap bean. Pods are green, slightly curved, and mature to a deep purple. Fully expanded pods measure 6-9" long. Great texture and flavor as dry bean as well. 5-8 seeds per pod. Seeds are tan and somewhat kidney-shaped. Plants are strongly climbing and have purple stems and flowers. Leaves have a purple blush as well. Average productivity when grown on Heritage Farm in 2018 and 2023. Snaps mid July. Dry pods mid August. This variety was donated to SSE in 1999 by Linda Hacker & Erma Jincks of Missouri. They indicated that this variety had been brought to Missouri from either Ohio or Kentucky in the mid to late 1800s.
