VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-BUSH
Snap, shelling, or dried bean. Very pretty, large, pink and green speckled pods. Reminiscent of Borlotti. Tasty at snap stage. Beans are very large and good for shelling or dried. Pink and red speckled beans when dry. Plants are more sprawling than upright. Grown by Joseph Klein for the 2023 Collection Documentation Project; Joseph comments that this variety is stunning in the garden and is a great all-purpose choice. This variety was donated to SSE by Will Bonsall (ME BO W) who acquired it from the late Robert Lobitz (MN LO R). Lobitz only indicated that he received this variety from another SSE member, but it is extremely likely to be the bean developed by SSE member Russ Crow (IL CR R). Russ named 'Candy' in the early 1980s after selecting the variety from an outcross that occurred in his garden. SSE Accession # 102965
