VEGETABLES / COWPEA
Grown in 2017 by Seed Savers Exchange member Sondra Krueger Feldstein from Bondurant, IA as part of the Citizen Science Corps Program. Heavy yield of attractive speckled brown-tan seeds with a hint of lavender. 90 days to first picking, continue to produce until the first frost. New blossoms form at same juncture with mature pods, so be careful not to damage buds when harvesting. Pods are 8-9 inches long and will shatter if allowed to hang on the plants too long. Plants are climbing and have intermediate amount of red pigmentation. Flowers are pale violet. 2-3 pods are clustered together. Donated to SSE by Blane Bourgeois (AR BO B) who described this variety in the 2001 SSE Exchange as "favorite of old-timers, CV local hardware store 91." SSE Accession # 109018
