Ledbetter Black

Pole lima. Seeds are black or very dark maroon. Dry beans have a strong earthy, musty flavor. Fresh limas have a milder, sweet flavor. Pods average 3-3.5 inches long and are slightly curved. They contain 3 medium-sized seeds each, rarely 2 or 4 seeds. Given to SSE by Curtis Showell (SC CH C) who obtained the variety from Shirley Ledbetter of Whitesburg, GA in 1996. Grown by the Ledbetter family since about the 1890s. SSE Accession # 112786
