SNAP-BUSH
Bush/snap bean. Snap bean is very juicy and moderately tender, but become tough and fibrous as pods mature. Mature beans have a dry chalky texture, thin skin, and a potato like taste. Plants 14.5-20" tall with light pink/white flowers. Pods mature from green to yellow with light red dashes/stripes. Fully expanded pods 4.75-6" long and 0.5-0.6" wide. Immature pods are straight, pubescent, and have a long beak. Weak suture string. Larger oval shaped seeds are light to dark red with white/cream colored mottling. Moderate productivity and early to mid-season maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Mary Bebout of Ohio who received the variety from her mother in 1980 when she married. Mary’s parents, Robert and Oneta Campbell, had grown the beans since 1944 when they married and received them from Robert's parents. SSE Accession # 131734
