This variety was donated to SSE by Charlotte Hagood (AL HA C) who first listed it in the 1988 SSE Yearbook Exchange. Charlotte received this bean in 1989 from Josie Cates Marbut Hawkings of Alabama City, AL. Charlotte also stated it's been grown by the Cates family for more than 70 years; seeds were brought to Alabama from Tallapoosa, Haroldson, County, Georgia in the 1920s. SSE Accession # 104855
