Roots are yellow with purple tops. Some roots also have light green at the shoulders. Round to elliptic in shape. Generally non-forked. Smooth skin. Roots are half-buried in the soil. Deep yellow flesh. Very good flavor. Smooth, sweet flesh. Brix score: 8.2. Roots reach 4-5.5in long; 2.8-4.7in wide; and weigh 1-2lbs. Plants reach 0.7-1.5ft tall and 2.5-3.5ft wide. Semi-prostrate leaves. Plants showed more symptoms of disease than any other rutabaga in 2015 at Heritage Farm. This variety was donated to SSE in the 1990s by William Thiessen (SAS TH W). It is a family heirloom passed down to William from his mother that has been in the family for as long as William can remember. It was first offered by Thiessen in the 1981 SSE Yearbook Exchange.
