Wrinkleleaf goldenrod. Native to most of the eastern US. Hardy and has lovely yellow blooms in autumn. This variety does better in shade than other goldenrods, and prefers average to moist soil. I have been told it's aggressive but have not experienced this yet—however it may be more aggressive in full sun, so be mindful if it is not native to your area. Roots can go very deep even for young plants. 3-6 ft tall when mature. Fantastic for pollinators!
