HERBS-SPICES / CHAMOMILE
This is a Polish type chamomile that is very productive once it gets going. Smells INCREDIBLE, much stronger than other chamomiles I've seen. Even when we hang it to dry we can smell it around the room. Perfect for tea!
I have made the mistake of giving this too much nitrogen in the past, and it got enormous but did not produce flowers, so be careful what soil you place it in and don't bother fertilizing. Does well in rocky clay soil and in pots, but best to put in ground as the roots will go as far as they please. Self sows readily, and this variety also survived overwintering in zone 7a during a particularly nasty winter with nothing but a little bit of pine leaf mulch to keep it warm.
The original seeds I got seemed to have somewhat low viability so I struggled to grow them, but once they got going they did fantastic and got very very large. I am hoping these ones harvested from my personal garden will have better germination rates. However, I would recommend sowing heavily just in case. Please let me know how readily they germinate for you!
