Berwick German

Red, irregularly shaped beefsteak tomato. Good flavor. Fruit shape ranges from slightly flattened to round. Some fruit are fasciated and heart-shaped. Slightly to moderately ribbed. Slight to moderate radial and concentric cracking. 2-3 fruit per cluster. Fruit measure 3-4" long; 3.5-4.5" wide; and weigh 0.7-1.4lbs. Partially hollow seed cavities. Brix score: 5.7. Early to mid-season maturing. Moderately productive when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Indeterminate. Regular leaves. Medium-sized plants grow about 4' tall. Donated to SSE by Bill Ellis (MD EL B) who introduced this variety into the SSE Exchange. Ellis indicated that he acquired it while living in Pennsylvania from a local greenhouse in Berwick, PA (now out of business). SSE Accession # 124001
