Purple Stripe (hardneck), AKA Shvelisi. A favorite for flavor and bulb color, commonly found in commercial catalogs. The rich flavor is on par with other purple stripes, but the heat is notably restrained, making this a great variety for eating raw. John Swenson originally brought it to the US from Georgia in 1985. "Chesnok" is Russian for "garlic." Avg. 10.9 g/bulb in 2025, 11.9 g in 2024.
