Plant is covered with thorns, be careful when picking. Fruit is bright dark red when ripe, early/mid August. The bold color fruit pulls away from its calyx when ripe. Don't eat any other parts of this plant. Litchi tastes unique, like a very mild cherry crossed with a very mild cherry tomato. The taste is mediocre, but the plant itself looks special enough to grow annually as a curiosity. Container garden friendly. No pests noted so far.
