Market mature fruit is straight and short with moderate ribbing, pale green skin, black spines, warty look. Market mature fruit is orange, avgs 7" long, 3" wide. Good flavor and texture, slightly sweet, crunch texture, good flesh moisture, thick skin. Best eaten under 4" long, 1.5" wide before skin turns yellow at stem end. Acquired by SSE from Prairie Garden Seeds of Canada. This variety comes from the Heirloom Seed Project at the Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum in Lancaster, PA. It was donated to Landis Valley in 1985 by Mrs. Ida Risser, a descendant of Benjamin Landis who lent his name to Landis Valley. SSE Accession # 109389
