Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. Withee acquired this variety from the Robert Gene Daubert of Texas. Originally obtained through the 1979 SSE from Bob Twining of Arizona. Bob got the seed from a friend who was working in the Sierra Madre Mts of Mexico and was told the beans were grown by an Indian tribe living in the area. SSE Accession # 101542
