Work Release Paste

Gigantic, dark pink, oxheart tomato. Fruit slightly ribbed at the stem end. Minor cracking. Flavor is sweet with a little acidity. Fruit 4.5-5.5 inches long, 3-4 inches wide, 10.5-19.5 ounces. Indeterminate, regular leaf. BRIX 5.5 in 2020 at Heritage Farm. Christopher-Robin Healy shared this variety with SSE in the mid 2000s. He received the seeds while participating in a state work release program at the Hudson Correctional Facility in New York. He met another inmate who maintained a vegetable garden and had an abundance of tomatoes that he shared. Christopher fermented and saved the seeds, taking them with him when he was released. Christopher's source said that he got the variety in about 2002 from an Italian American inmate who somehow got tomato seeds from his family. This variety is said to have originally come from Italy.
