VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Pole Dry. Nicely productive. The plants produce a nice quality bean. The vines are strong, healthy, vigorous and dry down fairly early. Production is really good. This beans origin and naming is interesting. A young fellow by the name of Stephan Smith of Guthrie, Kentucky sent me this bean in 2015 and is the breeder of this bean and the one who has given it it's name. The bean is named after Fountain Pitts Allen born October 7, 1849. He is one of the key patriarchs of the Allendale Bicentennial Farm in Clarksville, Tennessee. Stephan was born in Clarksville, Tennessee and grew up on this very farm. The land for the farm was originally acquired by an American Revolutionary war veteran Captain Abraham Allen in 1796. The Allen family developed the farm and lived on the sprawling 1,475 acre estate for generations.
