VEGETABLES / TOMATO
UNSORTED-TOMATOES
When I recieved the George Washington tomato plants from my husband's grandmother before she passed away there was one little plant that was different then all the rest. It was also grown out and I found it to be a paste tomato. I have no idea what variety it was originally. It also has been in the family for over 100 years. This is a regular leafed determinate tomato. It does have the habit of losing all its leaves and dying once the fruit starts to ripen. It does this every year regardless of growing conditions as it puts everything it has into production. Fruits are about 3 inches long and oval shape, very meaty and few seeds. This one is a great one for sauce and salsa. Late variety.
