Winter Orange

Visitors at our 2026 Apple Tasting described Winter Orange as “fruity, sour, and crunchy,” and we’d like to emphasize sour! If you’re looking for a highly flavored, late-season apple, this one may be for you. It's a medium-size apple with an attractive orange blush and light russeting over most its surface. Winter Orange is a mystery tree in our orchards, with no detailed history to its name. Despite that, we've decided to list it on the Exchange based on feedback from visitors to our orchard. DNA testing from 2024 came back as “unique,” meaning it didn’t match any known variety tested to date. This apple was donated to us by a private collector from Virginia.
