SSE received this variety circa 2001 from Exchange lister Merlyn & Mary Ann Niedens (IL NI M) of Okawville, Illinois. They first offered it in the 1999 SSE Yearbook, stating it was from a gardener in the Sullivan, IL area. The Niedens also felt this was the best oxheart variety they've grown.
