A cross between a rutabaga and a turnip developed by John Gilfeather( 1865-1944) in Wardsboro VT. (The town celebrates an annual "Gilfeather Turnip Day"!!) Delicious root can grow to the size of a small soccer ball and not be pithy or woody. I have kept some all winter buried in the ground ( must pull up and bury completely) with a good layer of straw mulch. Original seed from Fedco, Unity Maine. 75-90 days.
