Japanese Flowering Quince

Chaenomeles japonica. A very showy low maintenance shrub with orange red (Chinese red) flowers in spring. For best color plant in full sun, but still puts on a good show in shady locations. Blooms on old wood, so prune after flowering. The fruits are edible after cooking, much like other Quince and can be used in making jellies and preserves. Also makes a lovely barrier plant with dense stems and a few thorns. They are not terribly thorny, but do have a few. I send 25 seeds for $4.00
