UNSORTED-BEANS
Fromm family lore holds that these beans were brought from Austria in an apron pocket in the early 1900’s. This variety was donated to SSE in 2011 by Alice Fromm of Hamburg, Wisconsin. Alice got the variety from her parents August and Helen Bortz of Portage and Marathon County, Wisconsin who passed the seeds down to her in the 1970’s as they were moving away from the family farm. The Bortzs’ in turn got the seeds from an unnamed friend (SSE staff believe this was circa the late 1940 to the early 1950’s).
