Barbara (Donor & Seed Source) of Waupaca, Wisconsin, has been stewarding this Lima bean variety since 1973. Its seeds were first got by her mother Mavis M. (Trawick) Chapman (1918-2009) from Ella M. (Evans) Burnette (1920-1994) of Faulkner County, AR. Ella was Barbara’s mother-in-law from her first husband, J. Ronnie Burnette (1942-2018). When Barbara married Ronnie in 1961, Ella gifted Mavis with a few seeds of this variety she claimed had been in her family for generations. When Barbara moved to Wisconsin after her second marriage she asked her mother for some seeds of the variety to bring with her to her new home. Barbara feared she would die and no one would grow these beans she had saved for so many years. She donated this variety to SSE in 2023.
