John Coykendall of Knoxville, Tennessee, donated this okra variety to SSE in 2019. Coykendall documented it as donated to him by Emily Brewer of Knoxville, Tennessee. Brewer received the variety from a customer at her workplace, and Coykendall’s note states that the okra dates to about 1850 in a Tennessee family.
