VEGETABLES / SORGHUM
This accession was donated to SSE in 2007 by Dr. Samuel Moyer (NJ MO S). Dr. Moyer explained this variety is the result of 23 years of breeding (1983-2006) with the advisory of Dr. Henry Hadley. This variety was isolated from a gene pool of over 30 varieties. This project is notable for consistent “plant height of four to five feet, the top leaf and sheath is not covering the brush/panicles, and the peduncle is ten inches or longer” which allows for improved mechanical harvesting.
