Parentage: German Butterball × Agria. Skin: Golden with distinctive crackled/netted texture. Shape: Larger than German Butterball. Use: Tablestock./ A 2008 cross by Colorado breeder Verlin Rockey, combining the buttery flavor of German Butterball with the larger tuber size of Agria. Distinguished by a unique crackled skin texture that cleans easily with a vegetable brush. Was sold through Rockey’s Potato Garden catalog (potatogarden.com, now defunct) in the San Luis Valley. Rockey died in 2017 and his catalog business closed with him. The variety survived in the Alaska Plant Materials Center tissue culture collection and was days from disposal in March 2026 before being rescued. I am unaware of any other US source. Rockey catalog description preserved at waldeneffect.org/blog/Gourmet_potato_varieties/ (April 2012). Rockey obituary: Potato Grower Magazine and The Produce News, April 2017.
