Chima Family Heirloom

Beautiful red to pink flowers. Highly incised, gracefully ruffled petals. Bluish-green, waxy, deeply incised leaves. Plants reach 2' tall. Plants reach 2' tall. P. somniferum. Donated to SSE in 2012 by Valeria Dukelow of Pennsylvania. Valeria has been growing and saving seed from this variety (or allowing it to reseed in her garden) since the early 1960s. Valeria received it from her mother, Sarah Russ Chima, who grew the poppies in Ellport, PA during Valeria's childhood in the 1930s. SSE Accession # 131748
