Round, purple, medium-sized fruit. This variety is somewhat variable in fruit color and shape. Most fruit are solid purple, while others are greenish-purple. Shape ranges from slightly flattened to oval. Most fruit are smooth but some have slight ridges. Fruit are born singly. Some prickles on the fruit calyx. Light green flesh color. Excellent flavor, sweet, not bitter, firm texture. Fruit mature to solid yellow. Purple flowers. Plants are short, reaching 1-1.5' tall. Green leaves with light purple stems and petioles. Medium productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Early maturing. Developed in the 1950s by Dr. Charles Walkof of the Morden Agricultural Experiment Station in Manitoba, Canada. This variety was donated to SSE by Glenn Drowns (IA DR G) who acquired the variety in 1985 from Farmer Seed & Nursery Company (CV Fa1). A variety by this name has been shared in the SSE Yearbook Exchange for at least 20 years. SSE Accession # 109505
