VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-BUSH
Snap bean. 65 days snap 90+ days to dry. Blossom light pink. Round green smooth pods 5-1/4 x 7/16" wrinkle when they dry tightening around its seeds. Straight oval seeds, light lilac mottled with light cream-tan when harvested new. Said to have a distinct beany flavor. Grew this one in 2014 for eating and taste testing. The pods are tender and stringless. They seem to have just a little longer cooking requirement that most snap beans, and when cooked tender, seem to be more solid or having more body to them. Bred by the Everglades Experiment Station in Belle Glade, Florida. An All American Selections in 1955. Result of crossing Corbett Refugee, Great Northern, Black Valentine, Commodore, and Greenpod.
