Aberdeen Green

Very late maturing. Large sprawling plants have large leaves that grow prostrate. Green leaves have light green petioles. Roots are mostly buried in the soil. Plants measure 0.7-2.3' tall and 2.5-3.4' in diameter. Triangular off-white roots have bright green tops and many lateral root hairs. Roots have many shallow grooves and few bumps. Roots are relatively uniform in size and shape. This accession matches the description of Aberdeen Green listed in The Field and Garden Vegetables of America, 1863. SSE Accession # 127662
