SNAP-POLE
Organic Listing
Pole snap bean from Appalachians (SMAC) also known as Goose Bean. Said to be edible pods and seeds until mature. The large flat pods turn bright pink as they mature and dry to leathery 5x1/2x3/8". Dry seeds 5/8x5/16x1/4", 50/oz., easy to shell, light tan. Can be highly productive even on a 4' high trellis planted late. In perfect bean year 2014, 3 plants yielded 68 pods and 320 seeds over a long period. Almost no yield in drought years. In good years ripens in 90-110 days. I was down to 17 seeds and in 2021 got a bumper crop. 100% germination of 4-year seeds. It did well in 2025, which had a lot of rain then hot drought. 2025 seed.
