Brassica rapa. Heading type. Spatulate leaves are green with a dentate margin and light green petioles. Leaves drooping, glossy, low blistering, and hairy. Leaves measure 17-24" long and 6.2-10.2" wide. Plants initiated heading by the time they bolted. Heads elliptic and about 11-13" long and 3.75-4.75" wide. Very good flavor. Moderately sweet and crunchy, but a bit fibrous. Best grown as a fall crop. Acquired by SSE from Melissa's Seeds of Hastings, MN. This historic variety was developed by the Ferry-Morse Seed Company who first offered it in their 1949 catalog. SSE Accession # 107597
