Hot Portugal

C. annuum. Hot, cayenne type. Matures from green to red. Elongate with a pointed end. Semi-wrinkled skin. Pendant. White flowers with slightly exserted stigma. Highly pungent mainly in the placenta. Heat is intense in the back of the throat then migrates to the front and fades rather quickly. Good flavor and quite sweet. Fairly thick walls. Skin slightly tough. Mature fruit 4-7" long, 0.9-1.3" wide, and 1-2.2oz. Plants sparsely branched; erect; reach 2-3' tall. Green leaves and stems with purple nodes. Highly productive; severe lodging; early maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. SSE Accession # 116109
