C. maxima. Buttercup. Market mature fruit oblate with red-orange warty/rough skin and yellow/orange striping. Fruit 3.5-4" long, 5.5-7" in diameter, and 1.5-4 lbs. Flesh color dark orange and 0.5-1" thick. Low productivity and late maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Primarily decorative. Taste is like a bitter cucumber with stringy flesh. Vine; leaves 20-25 cm, entire with no slivering and rough pubescence. Donated to SSE by Amy Goldman (NY GO A) who obtained the variety from CV Yates in 1990. SSE Accession # 120761
